DEATH OF MRS. MARY GUERNSEY EVANS

Mrs. Mary Guernsey Evans, widow of the late John Evans, died at her home in Bloomfield, February 13, 1914. She was born in Vermont, Nov. 8, 1838, and with her parents came to Van Buren county in 1856. Ten years later she was married to John Evans of Troy. Their home was on a farm in Perry township, Davis county, until their two children Guy and Minnie had grown to manhood and womanhood, when they moved to Bloomfield. The husband died about three years ago. The children live at Bloomfield, Minnie being still single. Mrs. Evans was the youngest sister of Dr. G. S. Guernsey, Mrs. J. Q. Megrath and Mrs. John Warner, all former residents of the vicinity of Lebanon, now all deceased. She was an aunt of Henry Megrath and Mrs. Frank Roush of Keosauqua. She was a fine pianist and before her marriage gave instruction on this instrument here at Keosauqua, where she was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
