LETTA LUTICIA HARDY
Mrs. Letta Luticia Hardy, daughter of John and Nancy Snellen, was born in Bullet Co., Kentuckey [sic], Nov. 27, 1843, and died at her home in Milton, Ia., Jan. 25, 1912,at 12:05 o'clock p.m., being sixty-eight years, one month and twenty-eight days old.
While but a young girl her parents moved from Kentucky to Eastern Illinois, and again when she was fifteen years of age she moved with her parents to Scotland Co., Mo. Here at the age of sixteen she married Thos. McHenry, to which union were born two children; John, who died in his second year, and Wesley W. Her husband enlisted in the Union Army and served three years in Co. I, 31st, Mo. He died May 4, 1864 from tetanus caused from a wound received in battle.
She was again united in marriage to Thos. Bagby, Nov. 31, 1864, at Oquawka, Ill. To this union were born three children; James A., David P., and Mary E. Again she was bereft of her husband June 28, 1869 and lived in widow-hood six years after which she married on Dec. 25, 1875, Wm. V. Hardy. There were born to them four children, two boys and two girls; Emery V. who died when twenty-one years old, Ada M., Fred C., and Minnie E.
