MRS. HANNAH LANGFORD CALLED LAST WEDNESDAY MORNING

Another of Van Buren's good old pioneer ladies, Mrs. Hannah Hull Langford, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Ruddle, last Wednesday after a prolonged illness of several weeks. She formerly lived on a farm about four miles northeast of Cantril.

Hannah Hull Langford was the oldest child of Henry and Mary Hull. She was born in the State of New Jersey on November 30, 1834; with her parents she moved to Ohio and when four or five years old came to Iowa, coming in by boat down the Ohio river, up the Mississippi and landing at Burlington while the state was still a territory. After a short stay they came on to Van Buren county, stopping for a time on Vernon Prairie, then to the homestead and had since made her home in the bounds of this county.

She was united in marriage to Perry Langford January 27, 1853 and to them were born five boys and three girls; Stephen who died at the age of five, Jonathan who died in 1906, Aaron who died in 1883, Flora who died in infancy, Oliver of Cantril, Tillman of Glendora, Calif., Mrs. Dora Ruddle of Cantril and Mrs. Cora Ruddle of Gibbs, Mo. The husband and father died in 1904 and since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dora Ruddle.

Mrs. Langford had not been in good health for a number of years and seven months ago an accident resulted in a broken arm and seven weeks ago she took to her bed and had failed steadily until the end came Wednesday morning at 1 o'clock being 77 years, 4 months and 17 days old. She leaves to mourn, her two sons and two daughters, Oliver, Tillman, Dora and Cora, besides five brothers, two sisters, and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Cantril, Thursday, April 18, 1912, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Floyd Tennant. The music was in charge of W. S. Jack, with Bernice Saar at the piano. Interment was made in Boston cemetery northeast of town.
