MRS. NELSON HOSKINS

Sarah Hanky was born April 8, 1847 near Bumbury, England. She was the daughter of Wm. and Elizabeth Hanky. She departed this life June 26th, 1925, at her home near Sequim, Wash. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Vinsonhaler of Orland, Calif., and Mrs. W. L. Roberts of Jamesport, Mo.; one son, Alva H., of Keosauqua, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She pased away at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 26 days, with her husband and one daughter, Ethel Vinsonhaler, and family, at her bedside, who tenderly cared for her during the last few weeks of her illness. Alva was in a hospital at Ottumwa and was unable to be present.

At the age of 8 years, with her parents, they set sail from England for the U.S. and settled on a farm near Keosauqua and here she spent her entire life with the exception of a few years.

October 23, 1873, she was was [sic] united in marriage to Nelson Hoskins. 37 years ago she united with the M. E. church at Bethel where she ever remained a faithful member, seldom ever starting the day without reading a chapter in her Bible.

She was a quiet, kind-hearted lady of high respectability and will be sadly missed in this community where she has lived so long. In her home she always gave out cheer and comfort to all.

She gave loving care to an aged mother for a number of years and to an invalid sister and several others, always being kind to every one.
