OLIVER E. McNAMAR

Oliver E. McNamar passed away at his home in Mt. Sterling at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. He was ill only a few hours. His age was 76 years.

Mr. McNamar was born in Missouri and had lived in Mt. Sterling for 30 years. He has operated a blacksmith shop most of this time, excepting a few years when he was a rural mail carrier. Although he was not able to do heavy work in past years, he has kept his shop open and was on the job to the day he became ill.

In 1887 Oliver McNamar and Mary Maddox were united in marriage and to this union were born eight children, four of whom have preceded him in death, and W. L. of Keosauqua, C. R. of Chicago, P. R. of Garden City, Iowa, and M. D. McNamar of Azen, Mo. He is also survived by his wife and one sister, Effie McNamar, who lives near Mt. Moriah church south of Mt. Sterling.

Mr. McNamar was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Mt. Sterling and the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon with Rev. James of Keosauqua officiating. Burial in Mt. Moriah cemetery south of Mt. Sterling.
