MILTON WOMAN SHOOTS SELF
------------------------
MRS. RUTH JOLLEY TALBOTT TAKES OWN LIFE AT S. C. WAGLER HOME WEDNESDAY, MAR. 6
------------------------
A wave of horror swept over Milton citizens at one o'clock Wednesday when the news spread that Mrs. Ruth Jolley Talbot [sic] had ended her life by shooting herself behind the ear. the [sic] deed was committed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Wagler, the Waglers are most intimate friends of the Jolley family.

Mrs. Talbott was noticed this morning going toward the north part of town about 11 o'clock and Miss Cleo Wandel stopped for a few words with her on the street, and remembers that she acted a bit strange, but gave it no particular thought at the time.

Mrs. Wagler assists her husband in his work of undertaking, and both of them were at the Hilderbrand home, and came back to town about noon. They ate dinner down town and soon after Mrs. Wagler went home on an errand. When she stepped into the bedroom of the house she was horrified to find Mrs. Talbott lying on the bed, a 32 calibre revolver by her side.

There was no apparent cause for the rash act. Mrs. Talbott is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Jolley and makes her home with them, and was a very close friend of the Wagler family, being especially fond of little Christine Wagler. On Tuesday night she attended the entertainment at the Christian church and seemed in the best of spirits.

Mrs. Talbott was active in church work and social activities. Her untimely death has cast a gloom over the entire community. At this writing no arrangements have been made for the funeral rites.
