J. H. BARR

Joseph Harvey, son of Marion and Elizabeth Barr, was born at Circilville, Ill., March 6, 1868, and died at his home north of Cantril July 15, 1936, age 68 years, 4 months and 4 days.

Mr. Barr grew up to manhood in his native state, and was united in marriage with Miss Carrie Dillon of Circilville, Ill., February 9, 1904. They lived in Illinois for two years and then came to Iowa and purchased the farm north of Cantril, where they made their happy home until their decease.

After the death of his wife in 1925, Mr. Barr continued to live on the farm alone, and on last Thursday his lifeless body was found on the porch of the dwelling.

Mr. Barr had not been feeling well for some time and he is supposed to have suffered a heart attock [sic] which caused his death. A neighbor boy, on going to the home, found him dead Thursday evening.

Mr. Barr was an honest man, upright in his dealings, well liked by all who knew him, and his sudden death was a shock which sent a deep gloom over the entire neighborhood.

He is srvived [sic] by one sister, Miss Minnie Barr, of Pekin, Illinois; one brother, Newton Barr, of Kansas City, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church of Cantril at 10 a. m. Saturday in charge of Rev. F. M. James. Mr. and Mrs. Judd Hootman sang three songs with Mrs. Thomas Wellborn at the piano. Pallbearers were those selected from his neighbors. Burial was in the Cantril cemetery.
