JOHN W. WOLFE

John W. Wolfe was born in Ohio, May 4, 1850, died at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, February 5, 1913. When he was a year old his parents moved to Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Hays, December 23, 1869. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom are living, one dying in infancy, and one son, Frank, who died June 12, 1908, aged 20 years, 3 months and 8 days. In 1900 he moved to Oklahoma, returning to Iowa in 1904 and locating at Milton. In January, 1912, he moved to Mt. Sterling where he was living at the time of his death. While in Oklahoma he was converted and united with the Disciples of Christ. Upon moving to Milton he placed his membership with the church there where it has since remained. Brother Wolfe was a lover of home, a good father, a good neighbor, a christian man and one who loved his fellowmen [sic]. He leaves to mourn his departure, the wife, four daughters, Eva Lancaster, Frances Buckles and Anna Parsons, all of Mt. Sterling, and Mrs. Mollie Wilson of Cantril; three sons, Curtis of Mt. Sterling, George of Rockford, Ia., and Guy of Guyman, Okla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Short, Unionville, Mo., and Mary Meredith, Pulaski, Iowa; two brothers, David Wolfe, Warsaw, Ill., and James Wolfe, Milton, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church, Milton, Iowa, by Elder Henry Esch, Saturday, February 8, 1913, at 10:30 a. m.
