OBITUARIES
MRS. HANNAH MOSSHannah A. Barnes was born in Cadiz, Ohio, Aug. 24, 1827, and died at her home in Birmingham Monday, Feb. 10, 1913, at 3:35 a.m., after a long illness with old age and inanition, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 17 days. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1839 and settled in Birmingham which has since been her home except three years spent with her daughter Mrs. Beda Moss in Missoula, Mont. She was married to C. L. Moss in Birmingham, April 4, 1844. Eight children were the result of this union, four of whom have passed away previous to their mother--Mrs. Beda Moss who died Jan. 19, 1912, Mrs. Abbie Hoenshel, Dec. 18, 1899; Mrs. Kittie Paxton July 11, 1903, and Sylvester died Sept. 7, 1850. Four sons, Thomas, Edgar, Albert and Charlie are left to mourn the departure of a kind and affectionate mother. Her husband C. L. Moss died in Birmingham, Feb. 6, 1893. She united with the M. E. church about 1839 and has since remained a consistent member, and during her younger days a great worker for the up-building and betterment of the church and community, and in the early days the intinerate ministers always made her home their stopping place, and were sure of a cordial welcome. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church, Tuesday at 2 p. m., Rev. Crowther having charge. But two of her children were present, the other two being located, Edgar in Kalamazoo, Mich., and Charlie at some point in California, unknown to other members of the family. A good woman, kind neighbor and affectionate mother has peacefully gone to her reward in the heavenly home.
