Mrs. George Zachau passed away the 11th

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. George Zachau of near Leando were pained to hear of the death of the latter, which occured Jan. 11th instantly. George was raised at this place where his good mother still resides and everyone who knows him is a friend. Rev. E.C. Sandmayer of Douds-Leando favored the Democrat with the following obituary of Mrs. Zachau. Jane Rupe was born Dec. 23,1853 and passed away at her home south of Leando, Jan. 11,1915. She was married to George Zachau on March 9,1879. To this union was born two sons and three daughters, with one son dying in infancy. Besides her husband there is one son, Will of Keosauqua and three daughters, Mrs. Ed Greene, Mrs. Elmer Brown and Mrs. Charles Cole, all of the Leando vicinity. Funeral services were held at the house on Jan. 15,1915 with burial being at Valentine Cemetery.
