Obituary. – Our citizens have been pained by the sudden decease of their townsman, L.J. Mason, Esq., who died last Thursday afternoon after a short illness. The physicians attending pronounced the attack to be cholera, but the violent symptoms of that disease were checked, and were succeeded by a comatose condition which terminated in his death. The funeral services were held on Saturday at 11 o’clock’ A.M. in the Congregational Church, by Rev. Mr. Farwell. The attendance was very large.

Mr. Mason's death is regretted by the whole community. He was a public spirited man and gained the general respect and esteem of his fellow men. He for a long time, and at his decease, was chairman of the Board of Supervisors, the duties of which position he discharged in a very satisfactory manner. His death causing a vacancy in the Board, a proclamation has been issued b the Sheriff for an election at the general election.
