Burns cause Death of George Zachau

George H. Zachau,84, died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Kerr, in Douds. His death was caused by illness resulting from burns suffered about three weeks ago when he fell into a bonfire while burning trash at his home about four miles south of Douds. Mr. Zachau was born near Keosauqua and had spent all his life in Van Buren county. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Ed Green of Douds, Mrs. Charles Cole of Cantril and Miss Margaret Zachau at home; one son, William of Keosauqua and three sisters. Funeral services were held Feb. 7,1944 at the Pedrick Funeral Home and interment was in the Valentine Cemetery.
