John Myers, son of Lewis and Mary Myers, was born on a farm near Bonaparte Oct. 30, 1858, and departed this life Sept. 7, 1929, at 1:30 p. m. His age was 70 years, 10 months, and 8 days.

The greater part of his life has been spent in and around Bonaparte. For the past 26 years, he has made his home at the Lackey Hotel in Bonaparte.

His health began to fail last winter, and in February went to live with his niece, Mrs. Trilla Cass, and her family. After the death of her husband, Duane Cass on July 12, Uncle Jack continued to reside with her and her sons, John Alva aged 3, and Alva John, aged 1, he being especially devoted to the boys and to another little great-nephew, Joe Moore, who lived near.

The Myers family consisted of five brothers and one sister, viz: George, Hugh John, Alva, James and Clarinda. Of these only one brother, Alva, is left to mourn the passing of Jack. Ths sister, Mrs. Clarinda Cline, died in 1928, and the brothers passed away many years ago.

He willbe greatly missed by the brother ahd his family, and by his friends for he has many. His kindness and generosity won friends wherever he went, and his idea of kindness was to give rather than receive and thus he spent his days.

Funeral services were held at the Cass home in Bonaparte on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. W.A. Samp officiating. Interment in Bonaparte Cemetery.

NOTE: John Myers is my great uncle, the son of Lewis Myers and Mary Cackley Myers.
