Mildred Fae Henry Martin, daughter of Russell and Mae Henry, was born in Bentonsport Feb. 26,1906 and departed this life at her home in Keosauqua, March 18,1927, being 21 years and 22 days. Her father and mother were taken from her when she was but a child of four ,and her grandparents have been as if her parents to her and her brother and sisters. On June 16,1922, she was married to Wherry Martin and since has moved to Keosauqua to make her home. Her brother Stanley and sister, Mabel were stricken with the dreaded malady, tuberculosis, and passed away in 1925 and 1926. So when she became affected with the same disease in August of 1926 sadness seemed to settle over her loved ones and friends, but through it all she was cheerful and thoughtful for the health of others. Through all the months of suffering and waiting she was patient and appreciative, always having a smile and a word of praise for those who cared for her. She was a member of the Bentonsport Presbyterian church, having joined in 1922. She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband, one sister, Mrs. June Corns of Bentonsport, and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Eli Hill, of whom it can be said that they were parents to the fatherless and motherless children. Those with many friends will sadly miss the one departed. Funeral services were held at the Pittsburg church, March 20. Interment was made at Pittsburg.
