Died
Myers: At his late residence near Bonaparte, Sunday, Feb. 1, 1885, Lewis Myers, aged 76 years, 3 months, 9 days.
Mr. Myers was born at Gallipolis, Sciota County, Ohio, Oct. 22, 1808. He came to Iowa in the spring of 1839 and purchased the farm on which he has continuously resided from that time till the day of his death.
In 1847 he married Mary Milford but she died the following year. Sept. 2, 1852 he married Mary A, Cackley, who with four children survives him; three children having preceeded the father to the other shore.
The funeral took place from his late residence Tuesday morning, Rev. G.W. Barber officiating. The masonic fraternity, of which deceased was an honored and respected member, took charge of the remains and deposited them with the impressive ceremonies of the order in the Rhodes graveyard.
The attendance was the largest we have seen at a funeral for years and testified to the high estimation in which deceased wass held by acquaintances and neighbors.
Lewis Myers is my great great grandfather.
