Gladys Irene Beggs, daughter of John and Grace Sell Hervey was born May 12, 1905 southeast of Keosauqua and departed this life Thursday, July 26, 1990 at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield at the age of 85. She married Otis Beggs April 17, 1926. He died in 1971. They farmed near Bonaparte and operated the Bonaparte Telephone Exchange. She later was employed at Fairfield Glove Co. in Bonaparte, retired to Keosauqua and moved to the care center in 1987. She was a member of the Keosauqua Branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it's Women's Relief Society.
Renaining to cherish her memory are four sisters, Florence Mellen, Grays Summit, Mo; Verda Duke, Gallatin, Mo; Valara Koontz, Milton and Wanda Kirkland, Seattle, Wa., nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceeding her in death were two brothers, Willard and Robert Hervey and an infant sister, Lucille Hervey. Services were held June 28, 1990 in the Keosauqua Branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mark Shaner, Branch President conducting. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Keosauqua.
