Transcriber note:

Son of Nicholas and Anna Raines Bonnett.

Note: The headstone uses the death year of 1921; at least one family history sheet uses 1922. On December 29, 2009 this contributor visited the Recorder's office at the Van Buren County courthouse in Keosauqua, Iowa and personally inspected the death records listings that are contain in the vital records books. The legal date of death for Samuel Jasper Bonnett is clearly December 8, 1922. Obituaries found for Jasper Bonnett (as he was also known by) and his wife Rachel Hall Bonnett are also published using the December 8, 1922 date and in the proper time frame.

Therefore, one should reasonably believe that the headstone date for Samuel Jasper Bonnett was incorrectly engraved with the 1921 death year date. Use caution when finding or using that date in Bonnett family research.
