Jacob C. Muntz, eldest son of John and Christina Muntz, was born April 17, 1859 and passed away at this home on Nov.2, 1950. He was born in Lee County, Iowa, and when a small child moved with his parents to a farm six miles west of Farmington, where he grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Josephine Simmons on March 18, 1884. To this union were born ten children, Frank, Mrs.Alden Watts, Mrs.Arthur VonSeggen of Bonaparte, Robert, Earl, Mrs. Earnest Newman, Mrs. George Wells, Mrs. Clyde Boyd, of Farmington, Elmer and Mrs. Willbern Gee, of Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three sisters and two brothers.
Mr.Muntz was engaged in farming his entire life up to five years ago when he and his wife moved to Farmington. He was an active member and worker in the Story Chapel Methodist Church, of which he had a great part in helping to build. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand, a loving husband, and father. He leaves to mourn his passing his loved wife, his ten children, thirty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and one brother, Fred of Bonaparte. Besides these he has a host of relatives and friends who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted in the Farmington Methodist church, Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Interment in the Thompson cemetery.(The above was copied from non-dated newspaper clipping from the Muntz Family Scrapbook)
