John L. Muntz, 82, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Poole, at Primrose, Feb.2. He had been ill for 10 weeks.
The son of John and Wilhelmina Kimler Muntz, he was born near Willets' Station, in VanBuren county, Nov. 29, 1865. He spent his entire life in that county until 9 years ago, when he came to the Poole home.
Muntz was a retired farmer.
He was married at Farmington, to Emma McElroy, March 24, 1889. She died April 17, 1947.
Surviving are 5 sons and 3 daughters: Leo, Irvin, Bennie, Frankie and Freddie Muntz, all of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Anna Poole, Primrose; Mrs. Mary Cook, Ft.Madison, and Mrs. Goldie Krehbiel of New London. Also surviving are 2 brothers: Jacob Muntz of Farmington, and Fred Muntz of Bonaparte, and a sister Mrs. Kate Ludwige of Seattle, Wash. There are 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Harry and Willie Muntz, died previously.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, a short service at 1:30 at the Poole home, and a service in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church in Primrose at 2:00, with the Rev. August E.Bergey officiating. Burial was in the Farmington cemetery.(The above was copied from non-dated newspaper clipping from the Muntz Family Scrapbook)
