Frederick Muntz, son of John and Christina Kenler Muntz, was born in Clark county, Missouri, Feb. 26, 1861 and passed away at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, Nov. 6, 1950, at the age of 89 years, eight months and ten days.
March 28, 1888, he was united in marriage with Miss Leona House; and to this union were born six children-four daughters and two sons: Stella, Arlene, Lottie, Grace, Elrey and Byron.
Mr.Muntz was a farmer all his life, retiring to a home in Bonaparte Nov.6, 1947, just three years to a day before his death. They had bought a farm five and a half mailes south of Bonaparte where they lived for forty-six years before moving to town.
His parents were natives of Germany, coming to this country in an early day and were pioneer settlers in Clark Co., Missouri. Fred was one of seven children, and the last to go. His brother Jake died last Thursday in Farmington. John died two years ago. George died in infancy. His sisters were Mrs. Maggie Lotz of Missouri; Mrs. Anna Amenda and Mrs. Kate Ludwig of Seattle, Wash.
Although not a member of any denomination, he was a firm believer in the Bible and practiced its teachings during his long life of useful industry.
He is survived by his wife and five children. One daughter, Mrs. Lottie Allen, died fourteen years ago. Those living are Mrs.Stella Fine of Farmington, Mrs. Arlene Millmeyer of Ft.Madison, Mrs.Grace Troutman, Elery and Byron of Bonaparte. There are 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Also many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Nov.8, with Rev. Ellis, pastor in charge. Keith Gaston, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Cooper, pianist. Burial in Steinmeyer cemetery.
