Arthur Frederick VonSeggen was born April 20, 1884, on the home farm three miles northwest of Farmington and passed away on November 7, 1959 at the age of 75 at his home in Farmington after an illness of about three months.
He was the son of Charles h. and Phebe Egbers VonSeggen.
He was married to Carrie Muntz on October 28, 1913. To this union was born four children: LaVerne, Donald and Donita of Farmington and LaVelle Lyle of Fort Madison. Following his graduation from Farmington School, he taught several years in the rural schools of this area. For the remainder of his life he was engaged in farming in the Farmington vicinity with the exception of a few years when he homesteaded in Montana.
He was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Farmington and attended regularly until his illness. At the time of his death, he was assistant Sunday School superintendent and a member of the board of trustees.
He was preced in death by his parents, two brothers, Leslie and Charles LeRoy, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his four children, four grandchildren and on brother, Winfred, of Hot Springs, Montana, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of the Nazarene in Farmington with Rev. C.C.Swallwell and Rev. J.K.French officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.(The above was copied from non-dated newspaper clipping from the Muntz Family Scrapbook)
