Minnie B. Newman, 78, passed away at 12:30a.m. Monday at the Hainline Nursing home in Bonaparte after a lengthly illness.

Born July 23, 1886, near Bonaparte, she was the daughter of Jacob and Josephine Simmons Muntz.

One September 23, 1916, she was married to Ernest F. Newman who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church and the W.S.C.S. in Farmington.

Surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Elsie Bowers of Oklahoma City, Okla., whom she reared from the age of 9 days; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bertie Hols of Farmington and Mrs. Florence Mooney of Keokuk; four brothers, Frank Muntz, Robert Muntz and Earl Muntz of Farmington, and Elmer Muntz of Ft.Madison; four sisters, Mrs. Kate Watts, Mrs. Carrie VonSeggen and Mrs. Fern Wells all of Farmington, and Mrs. Vera Gee of Ft.Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and one step-daughter, Mrs. Zella Dodds.

Funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday in the Methodist church in Farmington with the Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson cemetery, southwest of Bonaparte.
