Mrs. Bertha Parker,74, of Bonaparte died, Sunday Feb.1, at the Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. She had been seriously ill one week. The former Bertha Gibbs, she was born Feb. 8,1895, at Bonaparte. the daughter of Thomas and Cora Belle Parsons Gibbs. She spent her entire life in and around Bonaparte. On April 6,1912, at Bonaparte she married Roy Parker of Bentonsport. He preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Louis of Bonaparte, Frank of Keokuk, Roy of Jacksonville, Fl; five daughters, Mrs. Donald (Gladys) Sheperd of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Harry (Leda) Cass and Mrs. Joe (Edna) Miller both of Bonaparte, Mrs. William (Esther) Eggers of Gorin, Mo and Mrs. Elmo (Louise) Simpkins of Farmington; 1 sister, Mrs. Ralph (Sadie) Hudson of Aledo,Il; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, two sisters, one brother, two half-sisters and three half-brothers. The funeral was held Feb. 4, at the Bonaparte Baptist Church, and burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery.
