Florence E. Ewing, daughter of Frank and Rosamond Nichols Grade, was born Sept. 11,1906 at Farson, IA and passed away July 24,1988 at her home in Keosauqua, at the age of 81. She married Martin Ewing, Aug. 20,1927 in Ottumwa. They lived in rural Van Buren County, in Kansas and Missouri, returning to Keosauqua in 1980. Mr. Ewing passed away in 1983. An infant daughter and two brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters; Florence Hervey, Keosauqua; Ruth Clark, Festus, Mo; and Reva McRoy of Bloomfield, Mo; three sons William Ewing of Garden City, Ks, Lee Ewing of Fairfield and Wayne Grade of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two sisters, Ada Baker, El Cajon, Ca and Pearl Moss of Ottumwa, a brother Frank Grade of Talleson, Az, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held July 27,1988, in Keosauqua. Interment was in the Forbes Cemetery, north of Keosauqua.
