Raymond F. "Red" Cole, son of Charles W. and Jennie Zachau Cole, was born March 4,1920 in Keosauqua and departed this life July 12,1987 at the Van Buren Co. Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 67. His life was spent in Van Buren County. He was a veteran of World War II and was employed for 25 years by the Van Buren Co. Highway Dept., retiring in 1985. He married Louise Poling Thomas, July 4,1972. She died July 19,1973. On Dec. 23,1978 he married Lucille Donart Jenkins at Cantril. Surviving are his wife; a stepdaughter, Louise Thomas at home; several other stepchildren; two sisters, Verla Wolfe of Keosauqua and Ruth Manning of Cantril; a brother Lester Cole of Gallatin, Mo. A brother Roy preceded him in death in 1987. Funeral services were held July 15,1987 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Interment with military rites was in Pittsburg Cemetery.
