Ben Ewing was born Nov. 14,1888, near Bentonsport, Ia and passed away Oct. 25,1966 at the Van Buren Co. Hospital. He was the son of William and Nancy Rupe Ewing and lived his entire life in Van Buren County. For the past two years he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law. He was married to Salome Maxwell at Kilbourne, Ia on Feb. 16,1910. To this union was born two children, Mrs. Isabel Loeffler of Birmingham and Max Ewing who preceded him in death Dec. 22,1963. He is survived by his daughter, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Tina Ewing Matheson of Keosauqua; five grandchildren, Melvin Ewing of Dalton,Il, Myrna McCarty of Donnellson, Norma Ramsey of Keosauqua, Janet Smith of Birmingham, and Gary Loeffler of Kirksville,Mo. As well as nine great-grandchildren, one sister Iva Ewing of Stockport, two brothers, Martin of Garden City, Ks and Emmett of Bonaparte. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, a great-grandson and four sisters and four brothers.
