Fidelia Holland McElroy, daughter of Joel and Anna Holland was born Dec. 29,1856, at Carthage, Il, Hancock County and departed this life May 25,1949, at the age of 92 years, four months, and 25 days. She was the third in a family of five children, being survived by one sister, Mrs. Alla Dunlavy of Cantril and one half-brother Charles Holland of Louisiana, Mo. On May 31, 1887, she was united in marriage to Orval Fredrick McElroy, who preceded her in death, August 10,1939. To this union was born two children, Mrs. Roy (Lottie) Roberts of Bonaparte and Stella Irene, who passed away March 4,1911. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 15 great-grand children, along with several nieces and nephews. her passing leaves memories of kind words and good deeds to all who knew her. Funeral services were held Friday, May 27, at the Christian church in Cantril. Burial in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
