MARY LOUISE WORKMAN
Mary Louise Workman, age 92, of Stockport passed away at 6:30 p.m. on August 20, 2001, at the Nelson Nursing home in Fairfield, Iowa.
She was born July 17, 1909, the daughter of Charles Louis Hosette and Mary Julie Droz Hosette on a Jefferson County Farm in Cedar Township known as French Town. At a young age, her family moved to a farm three miles northwest of Stockport.
She attended country school and graduated from Stockport High School in 1927. She was a member of the Stockport Methodist Church.
She married Lester "Shorty" Workman on September 29, 1928, in Stockport. Outside of a short time in Neveda,Iowa, they lived their entire life in Stockport. They owned and operated the Stockport Restaurant, Meat Market, Stockport Oil Company and Workman LP Gas Service, with Shorty's brother, Ike and his wife Maynie.
Her survivors include her daughter, Shirley Ann Atwood Dick and her husband Richard; her son Chuck Workman and his wife, Sharyn; one sister, Josephine Hosette, all of Fairfield. Five grandchildren, Deb Forbes, Mike Atwood, Scott Atwood, Todd Workman and Tiffany Workman Crile and six great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Cassandra Forbes, Kayla and Evan Atwood and Alex and Carson Crile.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 6, 1979, three brothers, Verne Hosette, Bernard Hosette and Rollin Hosette and one sister, Bertha Stevens.
Funeral services for Mary Louise Workman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday August 23, 2001, at the Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Burial wll be in the Spencer Cemetery.
Family visitation wil be Wednesday evening at Behner Funeral Home from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Stockport Methodist Church or Stockport First Responders of donors choice.
