Floyd Pratt, 88, of Marshalltown died early Sunday, August 30, 1998 at Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Marshalltown.
He was born January 25, 1910 near Bentonsport to John and Georgia Glascock Pratt. He married Virginia L. Veatch May 1, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. She died August 24, 1989.
He grew up in the Stockport-Utica community, graduated from Stockport High School, and lived in Fairfield, Ottumwa, Eldora and Marshalltown. He managed Benner Tea Company grocery stores in Fairfield and Ottumwa, a United Food Store in Eldora, and was a surveyor and inspector for the Hardin County Highway Department. He also managed Quaker Heights Church Camp near Eldora and retired to Marshalltown. He was a member of Bethel Grove Christian Church near Liscomb and Workman Lodge No. 634, A.F. & A.M., Stockport.
Surviving are a son, Floyd Richard Pratt of Marshalltown; a daughter, Lorene Massa of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchldren, and a brother, Lloyd Pratt of Bonaparte.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Francis and Harold “Babe” Pratt, and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 2 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Cynthia Moore officiating. Burial with Masonic rites by Workman Lodge was in Dibble Cemetery, south of Stockport.
Memorials to Workman Lodge No. 634, A.F. & A.M. may be left at the funeral home.
