Alvena L. Pratt, 88 of Keosauqua died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001 at Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
She was born June 17, 1913 at Elkhart to Harry and Beulah Burns Pence. She married Harold “Babe” Pratt December 4, 1937 at Kahoka, Missouri. He died October 6, 1994. She graduated from Whited Oak High School and was a farm homemaker with her husband on their farm north of Bentonsport until retiring to Keosauqua in 1992. She recently sold her house and moved to Iowa City for health reasons.
She was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Women, Stockport Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Woods Club and had been a Rebekah.
Surviving are three daughters, Janice Redden of Decatur, Illinois, Annabell Albin of West Branch and Sharon Seydel of Iowa City; two grandsons, a great-granddaughter, a sister, Maxine Hogue of Geneseo, Illinois.
Two brothers, Alfred and Floyd “Bud” Pence preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 8 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial was in Dibble Cemetery south of Stockport.
