Lillian Belle Mahler Pickard, the daughter of James Holmes and Clara DeRosear Holmes, was born in Keokuk, Iowa March 23, 1888 and died December 28, 1984.
She was a descendant of the early English Colony of Lee Co., Iowa. In 1906 she married Frank Mahler and spent over 40 years of her life on a farm north of Bonaparte. Mr. Mahler died December 25, 1954.
She married Roy Pickard in 1957. In 1976 after his death, she went to live with her son, Roger Mahler in Jacksonville, Florida.
Preceeding her in death were two sons, Donald and Keith Mahler and her daughter, Helen Mahler Baker.
Surviving are a son, Roger Mahler, Jacksonville, Florida, five grandsons and two granddaughters.
Graveside services were held Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. In the Bonaparte Cemetery with Rev. Ron Young officiating. Hofbauer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.From Dorothy Watson's scrapbook, Bonaparte, Iowa Library
