Helen Rice, 72, of Bonaprte died March 24, 2001, at Good Samaritan Home, Keosauqua.

She was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Bonaparte to Lyman and Ethel Roberts Jones. She married Robert Rice July 16, 1948, in Farmington. He died Nov. 16, 1995.

A Bonaparte High School graduate, she lived in Chicago and New York before returning to Bonaparte in 1977. She moved to Good Samaritan Home in April 1995.

Surviving are a son, Lloyd of Middletown, N.Y.; two daughters, Loretta Waizenegger and Louise Rice of Middletown, N.Y.; six grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Rider of Farmington; and a brother, Tom of Farmington.

She was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services were held Wednesday, March 28 at Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmiington, the Revs. Richard and Marlene Smith officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bonaparte Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
