Esther B. Ewing, 91, of Keosauqua died at 11:58 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2000, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua.
She was born October 20, 1908 near Pittsburg to Harvey and Eliza Cole Thomas. She married Emmit Ewing March 7, 1933, at Lancaster, Missouri. He died January 5, 1993.
She had lived in Douds and Bonaparte, moved to Country Lanes Apartments in Keosauqua in 1992 and entered the Good Samaritan Center in May, 2000. She had been employed at the Record-Republican newspaper in Bonaparte and in the cafeteria at the Bonaparte school.
Surviving are a daughter, Edna Lewman of Keosauqua, nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Sherman Thomas of Rancho Cordorva, California and a sister, Gladys Haynes of Wentzville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Stanley, Roy and Wayne Thomas and two sisters, Lena Kreiss and Josie Brooks and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 5, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Reverend Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
