J. F. Boyer of Bonaparte went to Keokuk hospital Saturday for an operation for tumor. The operation was performed on Tuesday morning and Mr. Boyer failed to regain consciousness thereafter.

He had seemed in his usual health until quite recently; had engaged in business during the past year, being well known throughout the county as a buyer of wool.

He made his home for several years on a farm near Bonaparte but moved to town several years ago and retired from the farm.

James Franklin Boyer, son of D. W. and Marie Francis Boyer was born in Nashport, Ohio, September, 17, 1852, and died in the hospital at Keokuk, January 29, 1924 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 12 days.

While he was still young his parents moved to Iowa where he lived the remainder of his life.
December 30, 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Watts, who died in 1911. Two children were born to this union: Mrs. Thomas Cummings and Mary Boyer of Keokuk.

Dec 24, he was married to Mrs. Fannie Stevens, who survives him.

Mr. Boyer has spent all his life since coming to Iowa in the neighborhood of Bonaparte, having lived for many years on a farm southwest of town.
In the fall of 1919 he moved to Bonaparte, where he lived the rest of his life.

He is survived by his wife, his two daughters, one grandson and four brothers. He was the 14th of a family of 16 children. Those remaining of the family are: T.W. Boyer of Bonaparte; Louis M. of South Dakota; Alvin A. of Farmington; and Benjamin Oliver of Oklahoma.

Mr. Boyer won for himself a large circle of friends by splendid qualities of manhood. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and a faithful friend.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Bonaparte on Thursday afternoon with Rev. J.S. Coppoc in charge. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
