Elvert O. Teeter, Jr., 81, of Bonaparte died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.

He was born September 19, 1926 in Fairfield to Elvert O. and Opal Roberts Teeter. He married Barbara A. Baily February 23, 1947 in Mediapolis. She died October 22, 2005.

He graduated from Fairfield High School, was a draftsman at Fairfield Engineering, Fairfield Mid-States Mfg. Co., Milton and Caterpillar Co., Peoria, Illinois. He also operated Bonaparte Lumber Co. and was a self-employed tax accountant for 56 years, continuing that practice to the present time. He was an expert woodcarver and made many duck decoys, clocks and other wood items.

He lived most of his life in the Bonaparte community and was a member of Bonaparte Lodge No. 73, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.

Surviving are two sons, Matthew Teeter and his wife Donna and Robert Teeter and his wife Ruth all of Bonaparte; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ned Teeter and one sister, Janet Marshall.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Pastor Larry Wagner officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery.

Memorials to Great River Hospice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 30011 250th St. Bonaparte, Iowa.
