Roy Lawrence Monroe was born in Keosauqua, Iowa July 18, 1893 and died at Bonaparte, Dec. 14, 1918, aged 25 years, 4 months and 6 days. When Roy was fourteen years of age his parents moved to Kansas where he grew to manhood.

In October of 1917 he was united in marriage with Miss Carrie Houser, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. D. P. Houser of Bonaparte. He took his bride to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, where they lived until about a month ago when they came to Bonaparte to spend the winter at the Houser home. Mr. Monroe contracted influenza a few days ago and complications soon set in which brought about his death on Saturday morning.

He was the third child of Mr. And Mrs. George Monroe. The loving wife and little babe, his father, six brothers and one sister are left to mourn. His mother entered the Great Beyond only six weeks ago. Many other relatives and friends also mourn his untimely departure. Mr. Monroe was a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Funeral services were held at the Bonaparte cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Coppoc being in charge.
