Fremont Franklin was born in Canton, Ill., May 19, 1856. The greater part of his life was spent in this county in the neighborhood of Bentonsport. He died Tuesday, August 1, 1905, aged forty nine years, two months and twenty two days. At the time of his death he was living on his farm northwest of Bentonsport.

He was a vigorous specimen of manhood, having been a successful farmer and one of the best bricklayers in this section of the state. Many of the substantial edifices of this county bear the marks of his hand work.

In 1890 he was married to Io (or Jo?) McCracken and to them were born three children, Stella aged fourteen, Jessie aged twelve and Kenneth aged eight.

His death was caused by dropsy which had confined him to his bed since April.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 3, conducted by Rev. McElhinny who delivered a most excellent sermon.
