Sarah A. Stadler was born in Bolton, England, on March 21st, 1838. She came with her parents to America when eight years of age. She lived for some time in Wisconsin, and then in Illinois. She came to Vernon, Iowa in 1867, and lived there till her death which occurred Sunday night, July 24th, 1898, she was aged 60 years, 4 months and 3 days. Three children survive her, Earnest, Mary and George, one son, John, having died in infancy.

The funeral services occurred from her late home in Vernon Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 1898, and was conducted by Rev. A. E. Thornley.
