Howard L.(Jeep) Smith,60, of Farmington, died Monday June 29,1987 at the Van Buren Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. Mr. Smith was born May 20,1927 at Mt. Pleasant. He was the owner-operator of LP Gas Service of Farmington for 20 years and also former partner in the Smith and Kerr Service Station in Farmington. He was a member of the Farmington Methodist Church and served on the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. On July 10,1947, in Farmington he married Charolette Coffin, who survives. Also surviving are a son Richard D. Smith, Iowa City; a sister Mrs. Martha Counts of Farmington, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. His parents were Harvey and Myrtle Bice Smith. Funeral services were held July 1,1987 at the Farmington Methodist Church. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery.
