T. H. Johnson Deceased

The funeral of T. H. Johnson was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. I. Bogle last Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the cemetery at this place, Revs. Duty and Perkins presiding. The last rites were attended by a large number of friends who deeply sympathized with the relatives in that sad hour of bereavement. The beautiful and profuse floral offerings also testified to this popularity both in the place of his birth and the scene of his later triumphs.

Deceased was the son of William J. and Mary J. (nee Christy) Johnson, and was born into the love of the fond parents at Bonaparte March 9, 1858. He graduated from the Bonaparte schools at the age of 15 and later took up printing and the study of law at Keosauqua. In 1880 he was admitted to the bar and in 1882 was married to Miss Beatrice C. Strickling, daughter of Judge Henry Strickling of Keosauqua.

They later moved to West Point, and after a year spent there, located in Fort Madison in 1890, where Mr. Johnson continued the practice of law. He was greatly favored by his home town and county as is testified by the positions of honor which he has frequently held. At his death he was county attorney.

He is survived by the wife and two children, Daisy M. and W. Harry, besides his father Wm. J. Johnson, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. G. F. Smith of Keosauqua, Mrs. Geo. T. Ward of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. Meek of Denver, J. A. Johnson of Bonaparte and Geo. B. Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas.
