William Vincent Huff, son of Amos and Athanissas Huff, was born August 7, 1867 in Ohio, and passed away at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, April 17, 1939, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 10 days.

He came to Iowa with his parents when he was two years old and spent the remainder of his life in Van Buren county.

On Oct. 1, 1893, he was united in marriage with Lucy Gillaspie and to this union were born five sons and four daughters, one son dying at birth.

Surviving members of the family are his wife; four sons, Harley, William and Robert of Cedar Rapids and Judson of DeWitt, Iowa; four daughters, Mrs. Virgil Benjamin of Donnellson, Mrs. Mary DeRosear of Primrose, Mrs. Lillie Brombaugh and Miss Louise Huff of Bonaparte.

Besides the wife and children, he leaves to mourn fifteen grandchildren, four brothers, five sisters and a number of other relatives and friends. The brothers are; Charles of Payette, Idaho; John of Hood River, Oregon; Ed of Farmington, and Judson of Biggsville, Ill.; and the sisters are Mrs. Eva Pease of Mt. Hamill, Iowa; Mrs. Orva Anders of Stronghurst, Ill.; Mrs. Viola DeRosear of Ft. Madison; Mrs. Ina Parsons of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Louisa Slutz of Hood River, Oregon.

“Biddie” as he was familiarly known, was employed most of his life as a farmer. Retiring from the farm about twelve years ago, he and his family located in Bonaparte which has since been his home.

His health had been failing about two years and his final illness was of about eight weeks duration.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at Bonaparte Presbyterian church, Rev. L. E. Winfrey officiating. Interment in Bonaparte cemetery.
