Guy William Lydolph, eldest son of Ernest A. and Henrietta C. Lydolph, was born July 16, 1876 on the Meek Ranch near Milton. At the age of four years, he with his parents and his brother, moved to the Lydolph home near Bonaparte, where he spent most of his remaining life.
On Dec. 25, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Lillian Hutchison. To this union were born four children, Lillian Thelma, Melvin Guy, Delpa May and William Vane.May 5th, 1910, the wife and mother passed away, leaving him with four small children. The three older children were taken into the home of his parents. The younger child, William, was taken into the home of Mr. And Mrs. H. L. Whitmore, where he grew to manhood.
In the year 1915 he went to Sac City, Iowa, where he obtained employment on the Ruschke farm. There he met and married Miss Pauline Ruschke on Jan. 3, 1917. To this union were born four children, Gwendolyn Margaret, Evelyn June, who died Jan. 14, 1923; Paul Edward and Herman Albert.
In 1928 he and his brother, Joseph purchased the home place and farmed in partnership until August 28, 1938 when he was taken seriously ill and on the same day was taken to the Laughlin hospital in Kirksville, Mo.
On Sept. 5th he became critically ill and departed this life Sept. 18, 1938 at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters, Miss Emma Lydolph and Mrs. Nellie Willits and one brother, Edward.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and children. Mrs. Thelma Vicers of Muscatine; Melvin of Chicago; Mrs. Delpha Huff of DeWitt; William of Sioux City; Gwendolyn, Paul and Herman at home; also his aged mother, Henrietta Lydolph, who made her home with them; three brothers, Homer, Joseph and Charles; five grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 21 at two o'clock in Bonaparte Baptist church, Rev. L. E. Winfrey officiating. Interment in Bonaparte cemetery.
