Roger Thomas Stevens, 67, died Wednesday, May 18, 1983 at his home at 1207 Summer, Burlington.

He was born April 13, 1916 at Bourbon, Illinois to Edwin and Olive Rogers Stevens. He married Susan May Nixon, January 1, 1950 at Bonaparte.

He served for 21 years in the Army and was a veteran of World War II, worked in construction and was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving: the wife; three sons, Rex R. and Thomas Stevens, both of Burlington and David Wallentine, Galva, Illinois; two daughters, Carole Stevens, Cedar Rapids, and Sharon Box, Burlington; four brothers, Merle and Benton T. Champaign, Illinois, Carl, Arcola, Illinois and Lee, Villa Grover, Illinois; a sister, Flossie Waters, Stewardson, Illinois; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 1983 at Lunning Chapel, the Rev. William Ivey officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery with military rites at 1 p.m. A memorial has been established for Hope Haven.

The name of a daughter, Doris Crawford of Urbana, Illinois was unintentionally omitted from the obituary of Roger Thomas Stevens in last week's paper.
