Geo. Michael Henkle was born on the 27th day of August, 1876 at Bonaparte, Iowa and received his education in the public schools at that place.

At the age of 16 he left school and began his business career with his father, who was then in the grocery business. And later he was associated with his Father in the restaurant business. In 1896 he went to Chicago where after taking a course in a Business college he entered the employ of the Pullman Palace Car Co., in which position he discharged his duties with credit to himself until January, 1901 when he accepted a more promising position with the Corn Exchange National bank of Chicago where he was rapidly promoted through ability and faithful discharge of his duties. At the time of his death he was one of the head book keepers in this institution.

On Friday morning, August 7, while at his duties at the bank, he was stricken with heart failure and before the services of a physician could be secured, he had passed away.

Those left to mourn are his parents and three sisters: Mrs. Jennie M. Hines of Bonaparte, Miss Brooks Henkle and Mrs. C. F. Schneider of Chicago, also Miss Anna Froehlich to whom he was engaged to be married, and many relatives and friends.

Services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Collier; interrment [sic] in Bonaparte cemetery.

Those who accompanied the body to this city were: Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Schneider, Miss Brooks Henkle, Miss Anna Froehlich and Chas. Collins all of Chicago.
