Mary Didema Macklin was born near Anson, Mo., April 6, 1881 and departed this life Jan. 21, 1902, having lived 20 yrs., 9 mo and 15 days.
The early part of her life was spent on a farm near Anson, and in '93 moved to Minnesota where she lived about a year and then moved to Farmington, remaining but a short time, and then to Bonaparte, where the rest of her short, sweet life was lived.
During her long illness she gave her heart to her savior, and as her friends stood around her bedside she told them not to weep for her as she was so happy.
And though her faithful physician and anxious friends battled so hard with death, God demanded his own and God makes no mistakes, and the loved ones saw the grain was ripened and knew full well the Reaper stood near with sickle in hand ready to take to his master, the golden sheaf.
They saw she suffered intensely but only heard "I am so tired," but the bitter sting of her pain made sweeter her rest in a brighter world than this.
She leaves to mourn her loss besides a host of sorrowing friends, five brothers and three sisters. Her father, mother and infant sister, having proceeded her to the better world.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Duty from the Methodist church, Thursday at 10 a.m. and the remains were laid at rest in the Anson cemetery.
The following young friends of the deceased acted as pall bearers: Roxie Kerr, Lottie Cassiday, Clara Entler, Sadie Dawson, Emma Dawson and Daisy Kerr.
