Necrological

Josephina Kirsch was born in Chicago Ill., November 28, 1883, and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, February 16, 1903, aged 19 years, 2 months and 19 days. Most of her life was spent in Chicago, where she attended the public schools, with the exception of nine years which was spent in Bloomfield of this state.

Although young in years yet her whole life was devoted to the loved ones around her and she never tired of making others happy. Although coming to this city in July 1902 yet many were her friends won by her modest, retiring disposition.

Although her illness was of so short duration yet she battled so hard with death owing to the fact that in a few short months she was to become a bride. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides a host of sorrowing friends, a father, mother, five sisters, three brothers, one brother and sister having gone on before.

Not in cruelty, not in wrath, the reaper came one day.
But an angel visited the green earth,
And took our flower away.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock on Wednesday and despite the bitterly cold weather the house was well filled with the sorrowing friends. Rev. Ayrault spoke comforting words to the family and friends.

Burial was made in the cemetery here.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful, and chief among these was the pillow and wreathes, composed of some fifteen dozen roses and carnations and by the friends of the deceased in the clothing manufactuory.

The following young men acted as pall bearers: Keith Humphreyes, Darrel McConnaughey, Oscar Derr, Clarence Black, Walter Neally and Brown McDonald, while six young ladies acted as honorary pall bearers and were Misses Daisy Kerr, Mary Carr, Corrine Coolidge, Tint Cox, Georgia Humphreyes and Nellie Oberton.
