DEATH'S HARVEST
VALERIA CRESAPValeria Bell was born near Auburn, New York, August 6, 1825. She emigrated with her parents to Indiana while in her youth. Later the family moved to Michigan where they resided for some time and from there she came to Iowa, settling in Bonaparte in 1843.
She was married to Charles Keith in 1848, and to their union three children were born, 2 sons and 1 daughter. One son died in infancy. Her husband died in California.
She was married to Daniel H. Cresap in June 1856 and to their union four children were born, 3 sons and 1 daughter, one son, Price, died in infancy ahd the daughter Lou, at the age of 19. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Ellen Sharp of Bonaparte, Wm. Keith of Wyoming and Robt. N. and Daniel Cresap of Bonaparte. Also by 7 grand children and 2 great grand children. Also one brother, John H. Bell of Jennings, Kas., and seven step children, Mrs. Margaret Fisher and Mrs. Mary Wickard of Cumberland, Maryland; Jonathan Cresap of Selma, Ia.; Richard Cresap of Koshkonong, Mo.; Oliver P. Cresap of Canyon City, Oregon, and John H. Cresap and Mrs. Rachel Humphries of Bonaparte.
She became a member of the Baptist church during the pastorate of Rev. Milton Sutton some time in the 50's and remained with them for several years, afterwards uniting with the Adventists.
She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. H. Sharp, on Sunday night at 12:10 Aug. 15, 1904, aged 79 years, 9 days.
The funeral took place on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1904, from the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Sharp, Rev. Barber of Libertyville conducting the service.
