Florabelle Ford, daughter of George Kerr and Sadie Lawrence Kerr, was born December 8, 1907 in Bonaparte and died the morning of Wednesday, August 30, 1989 at the Donnellson Manor Care Center in Donnellson at the age of 81. She lived her life in Van Buren County, had been a cook at Hotel Manning in Keosauqua and for a number of years operated the Douds Cafe. She married Willard Cox December 29, 1925 at Mount Sterling. He died in 1957. She later married John Ford who died in 1985. Surviving are five sons, Dean Cox, Des Moines, Ronnie and Marvin Cox, Davenport, Larry Joe Cox, Chadron, Nebraska, and Bill Cox, Douds; four daughters, Naomi Patterson, Green Valley, Arizona, Karen Salter, Des Moines, Sandra Murray, Islamabad, Pakistan, Mary Cohenour, Fairfield. 32 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Arlie Kerr in Colorado, two sisters, Faye Hainline, Bonaparte, and Trudy Lockwood in Florida. Other relatives and friends. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Friday, September 1, 1989 at 2:30 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Interment was in Leando Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Diabetes Association.
