Mrs. Nancy McGreer died at her home in this city on Tuesday morning, April 26, 1898. Deceased was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, May 23, 1816; she grew to womanhood in the place of her nativity, and was married to David Luther in 1836; they came to Iowa in 1853 and settled in this county, where she resided until her death. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Luther, five of whom survive her, four of them reside in Farmington. Mr. Luther died in Farmington in 1855. She was married to Alexander McGreer in January, 1859, they living together until March 2, 1876, when death entered the home again and she was left a widow the second time. For many years she enjoyed the consolations of the christian religion, having been converted in early life, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she remained a member until her death. She was a kind affectionate mother, neighbor and friend, and will be remembered by those who have been most intimately acquainted with her. Funeral from the home on Thursday, April 28, at 2 p.m., Rev. Barber conducting the service.

David Luther 39, Nancy 35, Sarah 15, Emily 13, James 13, Margaret A. 10, Jonathan 7, Exemena 5, Susan 3, Mary 1. The 1856 Iowa census for Farmington, Van Buren county shows Nancy a widow and six children, Sarah, Emily, James, Margaret, S. (Exemena), S. (Susan).
