John Kimmel, 92, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1961, in his home at 608 North Avenue D. He had not been well for the past two years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold F. DeVries in charge. Burial will be in the Birmingham Cemetery. Members of the VFW Auxiliary will meet at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home, to attend the rites in a group.

Mr. Kimmel was born at Birmingham Nov. 16, 1868. A son of Henry Jacob and Lucy Margaret Jones Kimmel, he was reared and educated there and married Nov. 14, 1900 to Louisa Myrtle Miner. They had lived in Washington for 24 years. Mr. Kimmel was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; 10 children: Mrs. David McGaffey, Mrs. Alfred Stalder, Mrs. Ernest Leyden, and Fred Kimmel of Washington, Henry of Keosauqua, George of Marshalltown, Mrs. Ned Fisher of Pekin, Ill., Mrs. Dale Canaday of Selma, Mrs. Pat McGill of Davenport.

Also surviving are 50 grandchildren and 54 Great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
